A Day in The Life Development

This general idea conveys the sense of being in two minds, but I had to explore the best way to present this image.

Left; a (very) brief exploration of colours to see if another combination would be better than yellow and purple. I was unsure if the purple overpowered the yellow. These colour combinations didn't pop as much so I stuck with the original colours.

Above; variations of the image. Found the dry-brush effect very aesthetically pleasing - it gives a sense of chaos and confusion reinforcing themes of the article. Mostly block colours have been used on the figures which is makes them merge uncomfortably. A lot of the last image is poorly executed and not easy to look at but something about the added eyes are charming.

The above image developed futher after I had done the image below as I wanted the images to match. The background and dry brush effect linked them and made the above image much more aesthetically pleasing. The dry brush makes the faces somewhat translucent so they merge more seamlessly.

A challenge here was making the angel and devil distinct from each other in colour, but also using the same two colours. Using contrasting colours really helped here so the angel could be more yellow heavy with splashes of purple and vice versa. The background was inspired by trying to give a sense of conflict and movement between the angel and devil, sparks flying everywhere. It was a theme I could continue through the pieces.

The feedback given on my roughs was that the temptation had to be shown in the image. In the first image I have used an apple - not good imagery in this case as it coincides with the running as they're both healthy things. There is also a lot of negative space, the image is not very engaging. The second image is more exciting with hands reaching in holding out tempting things, chasing the runner. It may be a little too busy but I think it works with the rest of the images.

This will be a gradient from purple to yellow. Temptation being on the dark side and the goal being on the light.
