Investigating three meanings of the word 'Light'. There were more than three but the ones I'm looking at are; light in weight; illumination/shining light; and to set something alight (e.g. Match, candle, firework)
Exploring 'light' as in lighting items. One that stuck in my mind was lighting lamps (inspired by 'light the lamp not the rat' in The Muppets Christmas Carol). Also lighting incense as I thought the smoke would offer a good platform for the text and image
Type based on light (lightweight). I wanted the words to look as if they're floating, it should curve up a lot more at the end, the text just looks as if its on a diagonal. The idea of bubbles is fitting to the meaning of the word and could offer interesting visuals.
Briefly thought about the northern lights, idea seemed somewhat limited as I could only come up with doing the text in green or making the northern lights out of the word 'light'.
Below I have sketched 'light' made from lamps and made from clouds. Referring to 'illuminated' - light and 'lightweight' - light. The lamp idea could be fun and have a lot of possibilities as there are lots of different types of light that could be included.
The cloud idea is a bit too close to childish bubble writing.
Type is really challenging for me, I have always been terrible at type. I'm going to have to keep developing my type and also research handmade type to get inspiration.
